SHOOTOUT FOR SOLDIERS ANNOUNCES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
The 24-hour lacrosse event benefiting American veterans has hired long-time Ohio lead
BALTIMORE, MD (February 22, 2018) – Shootout for Soldiers, the 24-hour lacrosse event, has hired Merry Troper as its new Executive Director. Troper, who has coordinated the Ohio event since 2014, will join the non-profit as its first full-time hire in the organization’s history. The summer tour will expand to thirteen locations in 2018, including new sites in Raleigh, Seattle, and Washington DC.
“I am both humbled and thrilled to be named Executive Director,” explains Merry Troper. “I have been passionate about Shootout for Soldiers’ mission since I started with the organization in 2014. I am excited to continue to grow the event and support the mission of helping our military service men and women. I would like to thank Tyler Steinhardt for having the vision to lead SFS to the success it has had and I look forward to working with all the volunteers, coaches, and players to make this event even greater.”
Troper is a staple in the Ohio lacrosse community, helping orchestrate Shootout for Soldiers at Fortress Obetz alongside a Ohio Machine game in 2017. The combination led to the highest home attendance total for the Machine all season.
“This is an exciting new chapter for Shootout for Soldiers as we look to scale the organization to a new level,” explains Tyler Steinhardt, Founder of Shootout for Soldiers. “Merry was a clear pick for this role given her dedication to the event, energy for the cause and dogged work ethic, and I think she will lead us to new heights.”
