For our nation’s severely wounded heroes, however, life at home can be a constant battle. Without features designed for their needs, small tasks can present insurmountable challenges.” reads the R.I.S.E. page on the Gary Sinise Foundation’s site.
The Gary Sinise Foundation’s R.I.S.E program builds adaptive smart homes for for military veteran all across the country. The Foundation believes with more than 50,000 veteran returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan, we need to help these veterans regain mobility at home to continue their everyday life. Not limiting themselves to home building, the R.I.S.E program also creates adaptive vehicles for wounded veterans.
The Foundation is hoping to continue building homes and vehicles for our nation’s veterans and have modified ten homes, six vehicles, and nine mobility devices. By the end of 2017, the Foundation plans on completing or currently constructing 51 homes.
