SPARKS, Md. — US Lacrosse is joining forces with Shootout for Soldiers, an organization that has used lacrosse as a platform to raise more $3 million for American veterans since its formation in 2012 by high school students.

The signature events for Shootout for Soldiers are 24-hour continuous lacrosse games that bring players from multiple age groups and genders in communities around the country. Whether you’re a player, coach, official or fan — a 10-year-old or an “old-timer” — the Shootout for Soldiers experience is an inspiring one. They’ve created a brand and format that delivers the best aspect of the US Lacrosse mission: to enrich the experience of participants.

“I’ve been fortunate to attend some of the Shootout for Soldiers events and they’re such a great celebration of everyone in the lacrosse community coming together to support a noble cause,” said Mike Cather, vice president, and Chief Relationship Officer for US Lacrosse. “We’re proud to help provide the opportunity for our members to participate in these games where the winners are not on the field — they are the men and women who served to protect our country and to whom we all owe the greatest debt of gratitude.”

“I’m so excited about the partnership between Shootout for Soldiers and US Lacrosse,” said Merry Troper, executive director of Shootout for Soldiers. “To realize the incredible potential that both of our organizations will have by engaging the entire lacrosse community in supporting our military men and women is fantastic. The passion that we have in spreading our missions will create lasting, positive effects for the sport as a whole.”

As part of this strategic alliance, US Lacrosse will provide marketing assets to help engage the more than 425,000 US Lacrosse members around the country with these events.

In 2019, Shootout for Soldiers will host 12 events, beginning on May 18-19 in Atlanta. The final event will be held on Nov. 9-10 in Jacksonville.

Last year’s events featured more than 13,000 players, 75,000 attendees and raised more than $800,000 in support of veterans.
