Shootout for Soldiers Atlanta is busy recruiting teams for the upcoming event on May 19th and 20th at Kennesaw Mountain High School. It’s a big event to recruit teams, players, referees, medical staff, and volunteers. There is one local family who has been involved in lacrosse for almost 20 years. Robert and Kim Morin have had at least one child playing lacrosse for well over a decade.
When we announced Shootout for Soldiers was coming to Atlanta in 2015 and 2016, the Morin Family was “all in”. During the 24 hours, we could find at least one family member engaged in the event. Navy Veteran Robert, aka Dad, was on the field as a referee for several hours. Brody, the eldest son, is a National Guardsmen and former Kennesaw Mountain HS Lacrosse Goalie. He not only played in the Veterans game but also officiated for several hours. Daughter Lily Morin played in the Kennesaw Mountain Women’s Alumni game and currently plays Division 1 lacrosse at Mercer University. Daughter Isabella is a champion swimmer and the family “go-to” player. Son Eli plays attack and is a leading scorer for the Kennesaw Mountain High School Lacrosse team. Eli played for The Rowdy Gentlemen and in several games, including the women’s alumni game. He could be counted on to help fill a team throughout the event. Kim Morin is the Super Mom that makes all this work.
As we prepare for the 2018 edition of Shootout for Soldiers Atlanta on May 19-20th at Kennesaw Mountain High School, we look forward to seeing the Morin Family supporting the event again. If you see them, say hello and thank them for making this a great event.
