Not many get to hunt Florida’s Opening Day for Turkey with the most seasoned guides leading them. These three fortunate veterans were able to have that experience thanks to Team Red, White and Blue. Eric Engelhardt, Garrett Cathcart and Drew Smith were able to have the hunt of a lifetime and tag out on turkeys before 0700 opening day.
Eric Engelhardt a combat wounded Special Forces soldier was quoted saying “There’s a gap most veterans feel once they leave the military. That feeling of brotherhood that can rarely be
achieved in our daily lives. Out here in the hunting camp though—the stories, laughter, shared experiences, and trash talking made us feel like members of a team again. It was pretty
incredible.”
Team RWB is currently exploring hunting and other more traditional outdoor activities as a way to bring the veteran and civilian communities together.
