One of the newest teams at Shootout for Soldiers Baltimore was Parkville Adaptive Lacrosse who starred in the 10am hour at McDonogh School. Led by Head Coach Mary Delaney, the program was founded in 2001 in order to build an opportunity for special needs boys and girls to learn the skills of lacrosse in a nurturing environment.
Delaney added that, “This program removes some of the limitations we put on kids, especially the ones with disabilities. It builds confidence and makes them feel like they’re part of something, as well as teaching them leadership and helping them advance athletically.”
The spirited Parkville Adaptive Team faced-off against the Davidsonville Adaptive Lacrosse team Delaney noted that his team was thrilled to play in the event and be a part of something much greater than themselves.
